COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY — The Daniel Gale Foundation surpassed its $140,000 fundraising goal at its annual outing, held June 15 at Huntington Country Club, the organization announced.
More than 200 people attended the event, which featured golf, tennis, pickleball and, for the first time, game-table competitions. Guests from eight Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate companies also took part, organizers said.
The Daniel Gale Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.
This year’s outing honored Mike Plunkett, chairman of LifeVac, who was recognized for his business leadership and philanthropic work. LifeVac also served as the event’s presenting sponsor.
Funds raised through the outing will support roughly 50 organizations across Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens, including Pink Aid, Island Harvest, City Harvest, The Brooklyn Bank, America’s VetDogs, Nassau County Museum of Art, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Arts Gowanus, among others.
“What began four years ago as an extension of our company’s longstanding commitment to giving back has grown into something truly extraordinary,” said Deirdre O’Connell, CEO of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty and president of the Daniel Gale Foundation. “To exceed our fundraising goal while bringing together more than 200 participants, industry colleagues, sponsors, friends and supporters is incredibly meaningful.”
The event was led by co-chairs Melissa Stark, sales manager of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty’s Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington offices, and Abby Sheeline, senior marketing operations manager.
The foundation’s annual outing is now in its fourth year and has become its signature fundraising event, organizers said.
The Daniel Gale Foundation was established in 2022 as part of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty’s centennial celebration.
In the three years since its formation, the foundation has donated the equivalent of 150,000 meals to Island Harvest and City Harvest food banks during Hunger Action Month, supported Pink Aid’s fight against breast cancer and raised more than $300,000 for local charitable organizations from Brooklyn to the North Fork and the Hamptons, organizers said.
O’Connell said the money raised will help the foundation continue supporting charitable organizations that provide services and resources throughout the communities Daniel Gale serves.
“We are deeply grateful to Mike Plunkett, LifeVac, our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who participated in making this year’s outing such a tremendous success,” O’Connell said.
