HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington Hospital has appointed Dr. Yike Jin as its new chief of neurosurgery, Northwell Health said.
Jin assumed the role in July and also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
He joined Huntington Hospital after serving from 2022 to 2026 as director of complex spine surgery at South Shore University Hospital. While there, Jin helped expand the hospital's complex spine services and introduced intraoperative CT imaging and spinal navigation technology, according to Northwell.
"Dr. Jin is an exceptional neurosurgeon and a proven leader whose expertise, compassion and vision make him an outstanding choice to lead our neurosurgery program," Huntington Hospital President Dr. Nick Fitterman said. "His experience in both complex spine and general neurosurgery will help us continue to grow and enhance the high-quality care we provide to patients across our region."
A fellowship-trained and board-certified neurosurgeon, Jin specializes in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. He treats cranial and spinal conditions including brain tumors, intracranial hemorrhage, hydrocephalus, spinal deformities, trauma and degenerative spine disease.
Jin is a California native who now lives in Huntington with his wife and their three children.

Jin earned a bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
He completed his neurosurgical residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by advanced fellowships in complex spine surgery, robotics and minimally invasive techniques. His training included work involving spinal tumors, deformities and trauma.
Jin previously served as chief resident and assistant chief of service at Johns Hopkins, where he managed inpatient neurosurgical services, led resident teams and participated in medical education.
He has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and book chapters examining spinal infections, surgical navigation, robotics, biomechanics and neurosurgical outcomes.
His honors include membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the Resident Appreciation Award at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Irving J. Sherman Award for Resident Achievement.
Jin said his goal is to provide individualized treatment while ensuring patients and their families understand their diagnoses and care options.
