Kings Park Resident Named Chief Nursing Officer At Huntington Hospital

HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington Hospital has appointed longtime Northwell Health nursing leader Patrick T. Socias as vice president and chief nursing officer, hospital officials said.

Socias, a Kings Park resident, joins Huntington Hospital from Northwell's Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital, where he served as senior director of operations and patient care services.

In that role, Socias oversaw clinical and operational functions across interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, non-invasive cardiology, and advanced heart failure and transplantation services. He also led growth, quality improvement and performance initiatives involving multidisciplinary teams.

"Patrick is a respected nursing leader with a strong clinical background and a collaborative approach," said Dr. Nick Fitterman, president of Huntington Hospital. "His experience and commitment to excellence will be a tremendous asset to our hospital and the patients we serve."

Socias began his Northwell career as a registered nurse in the Cardiothoracic Unit at North Shore University Hospital. He later served as an assistant nurse manager, nurse manager and director of patient care services.

Throughout his career, Socias has worked on redesigning care models, improving patient flow and strengthening quality and performance initiatives. He has also focused on using data and analytics to guide clinical and operational decisions.

Socias said taking on the role at Huntington Hospital has special meaning because of his ties to the area. He lives in Kings Park with his wife, Danielle, and their three young sons.

"It's important to me to work in a place that directly impacts the community I call home," Socias said. "I'm proud to have grown within Northwell, and I look forward to working with the Huntington Hospital team to support our nurses and deliver exceptional care."

Socias said his path into nursing began after volunteering as an EMT and developing an interest in medicine and patient care.

"I was drawn to nursing because it combines service, clinical care and human connection," he said. "Being there for patients when they are most vulnerable is what continues to inspire me."

Socias earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Binghamton University, where he received the Mary Pillepich Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice.

He is a Certified Critical Care Nurse, an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also holds Lean Six Sigma Healthcare Green Belt training.
