Huntington Resident Is Suffolk's 7th West Nile Virus Case (patch.com) β Suffolk health officials say a Town of Huntington resident is the county's seventh West Nile virus case this season, though the person likely contracted it while traveling abroad and has since recovered. Even so, residents are urged to stay vigilant about mosquito protection through November, especially older adults and those with health conditions who face higher risk of severe illness.

Family Service League Distributes 4,800 Backpacks, Launches Holiday Toy Drive (patch.com) β A Huntington-based nonprofit just supplied thousands of Long Island students with free backpacks and is now gearing up for its Project TOY holiday drive, which also serves Huntington families. Residents and businesses can donate money or purchase gifts online or via text to help more than 6,000 children and teens enjoy the holidays despite rising costs.
