HUNTINGTON, NY — BAPS Charities, an international charitable organization, helped the Huntington community during the new coronavirus outbreak, the organization announced Tuesday. It focused on Huntington Hospital and Helping Hand Rescue Mission, preparing and delivering hundreds of food packages.

Huntington Hospital received 200 food packages on April 19, while Helping Hand Rescue Mission, a Huntington Station-based non-profit food pantry, got 100 packages last Wednesday. The packages are intended to help front-line health care workers at the hospital, as well as local families having a hard time getting food.

Volunteers helped prepare the food packages while wearing personal protective equipment and adhering to social distancing guidelines. The deliveries were made by trained volunteers at the hospital reception area.
