Bicyclist Hospitalized After Brentwood Crash: Police

Crash occurred Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Express Drive South and Washington Avenue, Suffolk County police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A bicyclist was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Brentwood on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

According to Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound on Express Drive South collided with a bicyclist who was riding northbound through the intersection at Washington Avenue at around 2:33 p.m.

The bicyclist, an adult man who has not yet been positively identified by police, was transported by ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai, Steven Bagni, 39, of Coram, was not injured in the crash, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check as part of the investigation.
