Brett's Bicycle Recycle - Huntington Awareness Festival

Come join the fun on Saturday!!! Lots of free giveaways and raffle prizes!!!

Brett’s Bicycle Recycle Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to recycling bicycles back into the Huntington, New York, community to underserved kids, teens and adults, will join forces with the Huntington Community First Aid Squad to deliver donated bicycles to community members and promote bicycle safety at Huntington Awareness Day - Unity in the Community Festival & Parade on Saturday, September 22, 2018, 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Join us as Brett’s Bicycle Recycle gives away over 30 donated, recycled bicycles at the event. The charity was established in 2017 in memory of the founders’ brother Brett Rainey, who on May 15th, 2015 was involved in a fatal accident while riding his motorcycle in Huntington Station.

Lisa Karrer, Brett’s sister and Vice President of Brett’s Bicycle Recycle, explains, “In Brett’s memory we collect, we repair, we donate. We accept unwanted bicycles, skateboards, scooters and tricycles. We recruit neighborhood volunteers and business owners to fix the donated bikes to make sure they’re all safe for riding. We then donate these recycled bikes right back into our Huntington, NY community. To date, we have delivered over 150 recycled bicycles to underserved but very deserving kids, teens and adults.”
In addition to the bicycle giveaway, we will hold a raffle for prizes including donated concert tickets to four different shows at The Paramount, a gift box of John’s Crazy Socks and a brand new bicycle and accessories courtesy of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. With our focus always on safety, we’ll be giving out bicycle safety items like locks, reflectors and knee pads courtesy of Source The Station.
All donations received go toward bicycle repairs, safety awareness training, the purchase of a vehicle for bicycle collections and acquiring and growing a physical location to be the heart of the bicycle recycling project!
Come celebrate Huntington’s diversity with us!!!
