Centerport Firefighter Celebrates 50 Years of Service

James Feeley served as Chief of the Department not once, but twice.

A former chief and current Centerport Volunteer Firefighter recently celebrated his 50-year anniversary of dedicated service to the Centerport Fire Department.

James Feeley was recognized for his outstanding service and was served a commemorative cake in his honor at a department service meeting.

Feeley served as chief of the department not once, but twice. He first served as chief from 1984 to 1985 and then went up through the officer ranks again to become chief from 2000 to 2001.

As a longtime member of the department, he also served a term on the Board of Fire Commissioners and started the Centerport FD Dive Team while he was chief in 1985. Feeley is a former EMT and served for 28 years on the Centerport Rescue Squad.
