Cold Spring Harbor Man Stole $220K From School: Police

BREAKING: The media company employee pocketed cash payments from students for nearly four years, police say.

A Cold Spring Harbor man stole more than $220,000 in cash payments from students for nearly four years while working at a media company, police announced Thursday.

According to authorities, Peter Burke, 53, accepted and kept cash payments from students that were meant for the Connecticut School of Broadcasting while working as an employee of The Robinson Media Group over the course of March 1, 2013 to Jan. 13, 2017. Burke's responsibility was to recruit students, enroll students and handle student accounts, police say.

The school reported a loss of more than $220,ooo, police say.

Burke was arrested without incident in Westbury and charged with second-degree grand larceny. He will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
