Cops: Man Shot in Huntington Station

The victim was standing outside his home with others, when someone in a passing car fired a gun in his direction, police said.

Suffolk County police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Huntington Station Wednesday night.

Detectives say Sheldon Leftenant was standing in front of his 7 Tippin Drive home with some others when at 9:35 p.m. two cars drove by and someone fired a gun at the group. The bullet struck Leftenant in the groin.

Leftenant, 23, was transported to Huntington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was later transported to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where he is undergoing surgery, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
