Cops: Pedestrian Killed on LIE in Melville
The crash occurred Sunday afternoon, police said.

A man who stepped into traffic on the Long Island Expressway Sunday afternoon in Melville was struck and killed by a truck, police said.
Suffolk County Police say a 2014 Isuzu box truck was traveling on the far right lane of the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Melville when he struck a man who entered his lane of travel, just east of exit 49, at approximately 2:05 p.m. The pedestrian, whose identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, who is from Brentwood, was not injured, police said.

The investigation is continuing. The vehicle was impounded for safety check and the investigation is continuing.
