- Woman killed in Syosset crash early Saturday morning. The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. and involved a 2018 Jeep Renegade, driven by a 53-year-old woman, and a 2018 Hino commercial truck being operated by a 28-year-old man, Nassau County Police said. The collision happened just west of Exit 43 when both vehicles were heading eastbound, and the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after. (Daily Voice)
- Melville man charged with two counts of animal cruelty and neglect. Peter Miller, a former Amity Harbor man who claims to now live in Melville, confined his male pit bull terrier “Buster” to a small cage in “deplorable conditions for 10 straight days without removing the dog from the cage or cleaning the cage,” Chief Roy Gross said. Miller is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16. (Patch)
