Dix Hills College Student Recognized For Work In Suffolk Legislature

DIX HILLS, NY — A Dix Hills college student was recently recognized for his participation in the Suffolk County Legislature’s 2026 Page Program and his work in a local legislative district office.

Matthew Albanese was honored by Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly after spending the summer working in Donnelly’s 17th Legislative District Office.

Students in the Page Program were recognized ahead of the Suffolk County Legislature’s July 14 general meeting.

During his time in Donnelly’s office, Albanese helped prepare proclamations and certificates, worked on social media and the district newsletter and assisted with community outreach, according to Donnelly’s office.

He also attended local events, photographed activities throughout the district and assisted with the office’s day-to-day work serving constituents.

“Matthew has been a tremendous asset to our office, approaching every task with professionalism, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to learn,” Donnelly said. “His intelligence, work ethic and commitment to public service were evident throughout the summer, and I know those qualities will serve him well as he continues his education and pursues his goal of attending law school.”

Albanese is entering his junior year at Washington University in St. Louis, where he is pursuing a double major in political science and organization and strategic management, along with a minor in legal studies.

His work through the Page Program allowed him to gain firsthand experience in county government while building on his interest in law and public service, Donnelly’s office said.

The Suffolk County Legislature Page Program gives students hands-on experience with county government, public service and the legislative process.
