Dix Hills DWI Crash Leaves 21-Year-Old Seriously Injured, Driver Arrested: Police
The man was seriously injured after a pickup truck struck his Volkswagen at East Deer Park Road and East Jericho Turnpike, police say.
DIX HILLS, NY — A Nesconset man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after an early Friday crash in Dix Hills that seriously injured another driver, Suffolk County police said.
Wesley Sitar, 45, was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram eastbound on East Jericho Turnpike when his vehicle struck a 2010 Volkswagen that was attempting to turn left onto East Deer Park Road from westbound East Jericho Turnpike at about 2:20 a.m. Friday, according to police.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Maxx Waite, 21, of Oakdale, was taken to Huntington Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Sitar, of 4 Audubon St. in Nesconset, was also taken to Huntington Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, police said.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday, April 4, at First District Court in Central Islip, according to police.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check, police said.
