Elwood Names New Assistant Principal At John Glenn High School

A longtime educator, administrator and coach replaces Lindsay Fritch, who is now serving as principal.

ELWOOD, NY — The Elwood School District has appointed Tim Cipolla as an assistant principal at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, district officials announced.

Cipolla replaces Lindsay Fritch, who is now serving as the high school’s principal. He brings more than 14 years of experience as an educator, instructional leader and mentor, according to the district.

Before joining John Glenn, Cipolla served as social studies chairperson and intern principal at EPIC High School North in South Richmond Hill, Queens. He led curriculum development, instructional coaching, teacher evaluations and professional learning while working with school administrators to strengthen instruction and school operations.

Cipolla previously taught at Hawtree Creek Middle School and began his educational career at Summit Academy Charter School in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where he also served as an eighth-grade team chairperson.

Outside the classroom, Cipolla has coached boys and girls varsity basketball, varsity baseball, varsity soccer and middle school flag football. Through coaching, he has sought to instill leadership, perseverance, teamwork and character in students, district officials said.

Cipolla also serves as an adjunct professor in the School of Education at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where he teaches courses focused on classroom management, educational philosophy, the psychology of learning and evidence-based instructional practices.

An Oyster Bay resident, Cipolla earned bachelor’s degrees and a Master of Arts in Teaching in social studies education from Stony Brook University. He recently completed an educational leadership degree at Long Island University, where he received the Academic Excellence Award. He also holds an associate degree in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
