
Brett Topel, editor-in-chief of MSG Varsity Magazine, will speak about and sign his new book “Simply the Best” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6.
A story about the best ball club ever, “Simply the Best” is the never-before-told-story of the Philadelphia Athletics from 1929-1931. A story about the greatest players to ever put on a uniform such as Lefty Grove, Al Simmons, Mickey Cochrane, and Jimmie Foxx.
Topel is the co-author of The Boys Who Were Left Behind: The 1944 World Series Between the Hapless St. Louis Browns and the Legendary St. Louis Cardinals. He has also written for Sky Magazine, Spirit Magazine, Baseball Digest, and Beckett Publications. He is the editor-in-chief of MSG Varsity Magazine, and teaches journalism at Adelphi University.
