Paint The Mall Red at Walt Whitman Shops

In support of American Heart Month, Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG), the world’s leading retail real estate company, announced today that it was celebrating Paint the Mall Red at Walt Whitman Shops and 165 properties throughout its portfolio during February.

As part of Paint the Mall Red, Walt Whitman Shops will host a Health and Wellness Expo on Saturday, February 23. The event, presented in partnership with Island Vein Specialists and GEM Magazine LI, will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Center Court and offer participants a wealth of valuable information from exhibitors including Saint Catherine of Siena Medical Center, WomenHeart, Katmar & Associates, North Shore Eye Care and many more. Participants are encouraged to stop by Guest Services to pick up a Health and Wellness Expo guide; the first 100 to do so also will receive a free goodie bag.

Heart disease is the number one health threat to women in the United States. To support the fight against heart disease, shoppers again will be able to purchase the Simon From the Heart Giftcard at the Guest Services counter at Walt Whitman Shops. For every Simon From the Heart Giftcard sold, Simon will pay $1 to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) in support of The Heart Truth® Campaign, a national campaign for women about heart disease, which is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

The Simon From the Heart Giftcard will have the same great features as the Simon® American Express Giftcard. Unlike some gift cards, Simon American Express Giftcards have no fees after purchase – no fees for activation, no fees for checking a balance, no fees for monthly servicing, no fees for card replacement, and the funds on the cards never expire.

The Simon From the Heart Giftcard is available in denominations ranging from $20 to $500, with an upfront purchase price of $3.95 per card, and is replaceable for free if lost or stolen.

“We’re thrilled to be able to participate in the Simon Paint the Mall Red celebration,” said Nancy Gilbert, director of marketing and business development for Walt Whitman Shops. “We encourage local shoppers to purchase a From the Heart Giftcard during February and to come to the mall for our Health and Wellness Expo.”

In addition, one lucky shopper from amongst all entrants nationally will win a unique prize package through Simon’s “What’s Not to Love?” sweepstakes, which runs during the month of February.  This enter-to-win prize package includes the choice of a designer dress worn in The Heart Truth Red Dress CollectionSM Fashion Show in New York City during Fashion Week.  The winner will select from a Badgley Mischka dress (size 4) worn by Jennie Garth in the 2009 Red Dress Collection or a Tadashi Shoji dress (size 12) worn by Raven Symone in the 2010 Red Dress Collection.

The winner will also receive a three-day, two-night trip to Los Angeles to see Andrea Bocelli perform songs from his 1/29/13 release “Passione” at the Hollywood Bowl on June 8, 2013, along with a collection of 10 previously released Andrea Bocelli CDs and a $250 Simon From the Heart Giftcard. Air transportation, hotel and car service to the concert are included.

Shoppers may enter to win in a number of different ways including: text Red 74666, on-mall entry forms turned into the Walt Whitman Shops’ Guest Services area, and other means of entry.  See official rules including all available means of entry at www.simon.com/whatsnottolove

Paint the Mall Red gives our properties the opportunity to promote healthy living and heart disease prevention among women, all in an environment they know and love – their local Simon mall,” said Lisa Bennett, assistant vice president at Simon Property Group.
