Join us as we taste two indigenous and (sadly) largely unknown wines of Sicily...
2010 Valle del’Acate Grillo, “Zagra”, IGT Sicilia
This bottling has a bright straw yellow color, is medium-bodied, deep and intensely flavored, with plenty of citrus fruit, lovely minerality and a bouquet of jasmine, orange blossom, roses, and exotic fruits. It is a beautiful, bone-dry white that works beautifully as an aperitif, with all seafood preparations and sings with vegetable pasta dishes. Its flavors are dry and refreshing, with well-balanced acidity interlaced with subtle yet lush fruit flavors.
2010 Passopisciaro Nerello Mascalese, “Scinniri” IGT Rosso Sicilia

Brilliant dark ruby in color with a faint smell of raspberry. The black currant flavor demonstrates itself in the medium bodied sweet, yet pleasantly dry and earthy wine. Starting off with with tannic black tea notes, merging into raisin and leather flavors, lingering nicely with spicy black pepper. An intriguing honey flavor underscores the smoky, Sicilian volcanic earth notes beneath the lush black currant.
Named after an ancient footpath, Passopisciaro means "The way of the Fisherman".
