Firefighters Battle Huntington House Fire

The blaze broke out Saturday afternoon.

Approximately 50 firefighters responded to a report of a house fire Saturday afternoon in Huntington.

Huntington Fire Department volunteers arrived to the Fairview Street home to find heavy smoke emitting from the second floor and a fire in the walls and ceiling of a bedroom at 4:25 p.m.

The blaze was brought under control within a half hour thanks to firefighters aggressively attacking the fire.

Fire officials say the fire appears to be electrical in nature and the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and the Huntington Fire Marshal are investigating.

Two engines, a heavy rescue truck and a ladder truck were at the scene, under the command of Chief Jesse Cukro.

The Huntington Manor Fire Department assisted with a Rapid Intervention Team and the Halesite Fire Department provided standby coverage. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad was also on the scene for EMS support and a Greenlawn Fire Department ambulance was on standby.
