Firefighters Knock Down Blaze Inside Greenlawn Home

BREAKING: The cause of the Wednesday night fire is under investigation, fire officials say.

Residents were safely evacuated after a fire broke out inside their Greenlawn home on Wednesday night.

According to fire officials, about 65 members of the Greenlawn Fire Department responded to the Brennan Street home to discover a fire in the home's first floor bedroom at 10:05 p.m. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the blaze and get it under control, containing it to the bedroom.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal.

The Greenlawn Fire Department received assistance from the Dix Hills and Huntington Manor fire departments. The Centerport Fire Department provided standby coverage and Suffolk County Fire Rescue Coordinators were on the scene providing assistance. Paramedics from the Huntington Cyanide Response Team from Greenlawn, Dix Hills, East Northport fire departments and Commack Ambulance were on the scene.

All units were under the command of Greenlawn Fire Chief Mike Bellis, supported by Assistant Chiefs Joe Costanza, Angelo Santomauro and Pete Miller.
