The First Nutcracker of the Season
LI Ballet Theatre returns to Jeanne Rimsky Theater in Port Washington on Thanksgiving Weekend
The Nutcracker Ballet will be performed at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark on Main Street, Port Washington, NY on Thanksgiving weekend November 24 & 25, 2018. For many in the audience it will mark the start of the holiday season. The production is unique in many ways as it is slightly abridged, narrated at key moments and thus perfect for audiences of all ages. Rob Royce, currently with New York State Ballet in Rochester, NY returns as Herr Drosselmeir. Rob has been a guiding force for LIBT for the past decade as performer, choreographer and director. The students of Sara Knight at SLK Ballet in NYC, will provide the corps de ballet in Flowers and key solo roles in Act II including Spanish, Arabian, Dew Drop and the coveted role of Sugar Plum.
The role of Clara will be shared between Hailey Jo Rosato of Cold Spring Harbor and performed on Pointe by Elise Abbate who hails from Huntington. Playing Clara’s little brother is Brinley Davis from Garden City and Isabella Montano from Hauppauge. These dancers train at Huntington Ballet Academy using the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum. The ballet school is located at Huntington Center for Performing Arts in Huntington Village.
Herr Stahlbaum played by Stephen Albright, celebrates his 20th anniversary with the company. Stephen is from Huntington and is a 14-time Ironman finisher as well as active in local triathlon races for the past 25 years. He is an attorney practicing real estate law in Garden City. He is also a member of the board of directors of LI Ballet Theatre.

The tradition that is Nutcracker is a testament to the young dancers, their teachers and their parents who together make it a special experience for all. Joining the students is a team of professional directors & dancers who help make the production such a stunning, visual experience. The company has been performing at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater for close to 20 years.
The Company resides at Huntington Center for Performing Arts and holds open auditions for each of its productions. In addition to Nutcracker, it has produced classical ballets such as Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella as well as original versions of Alice in Wonderland & Tales From The Crypt. In addition to ballet productions, LI Ballet Theatre has partnered with The Westchester Sandbox Theater to present Peter Pan & Willy Wonka musicals. In the spring these two companies will partner again to produce The Little Mermaid – a musical that will include ballet & other dancer sequences.
