Dog Stolen During Long Island Home Burglary Found Safe

HUNTINGTON, NY — A dog who was stolen from a Huntington home during a burglary on Thursday was found safe and returned to her owners on Saturday, Suffolk police said.

Stella, a 4-year-old French bulldog, was found on Rhododendron Drive in Center Moriches by a woman, police said. The woman's neighbors recognized Stella as the missing dog, police said. Stella was returned to her owners. The burglar(s) have not yet been arrested, police said.

Stella was stolen from a Robin Lane home sometime between 4 and 11 p.m. Thursday, police said. A Sony PlayStation 5 was also swiped from the house, police said. The burglar or burglars may have entered through an unlocked back door while the residents were not home, investigators said they believe.

At least $8,000 in rewards had been made available for information. The dog's owner offered a $5,000 reward, while Organic Pest Management Solutions offered $3,000 for information.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the burglary to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
