Friends Of The Poor Walk To Help Struggling Huntingtonians
Inflation, fuel costs, food bills and the ending of the coronavirus moratorium on evictions have been causing Long Islanders to struggle.
LLOYD HARBOR, NY — A local Friends of the Poor Walk is slated for 9 a.m. Saturday in Huntington. The walk is meant to help Huntingtonians struggling with the increased costs of everything.
The walk is set to kick off at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, at 440 West Neck Road, Lloyd Harbor.
Long Islanders are financially struggling with record inflation, sky-high fuel costs, double-digit increases on their food bills and the lifting of the coronavirus moratorium on evictions earlier this year. People previously able to scrape by on their own have had to seek help from social service agencies to pay their rent, provide groceries or give them gas cards, according to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
