Canon USA's Women in Leadership Levels Hosted Event for More than 100 Women from Local Colleges and Universities
More than 100 college students recently visited Canon Americas headquarters in Melville, NY for a day-long professional development forum providing insights and advice on motivating them as they work to complete their degrees and continue to stand out as they enter the workforce. The program is intended to give the next generation of women in the workforce a glimpse of careers in the ever-evolving technology industry and provide insight and tips to stand out and lead in executive roles. Students were introduced to professional role models and participated in a series of breakout sessions complete with workshops and detailed discussions about advancements in technology and issues facing women in the workplace.
The event featured a keynote speech by the founder and CEO of The Forem, Alli Young. Young has had a successful 20-year career in technology and founded The Forem to unlock opportunities for women across disruptive brands and Fortune 500 organizations. The Forem focuses on five critical skills, which were discussed in-depth with the college students: self-advocacy; control your narrative; brand distribution; financial fluency; and lead greatly.
