HUNTINGTON, NY — The Huntington Public Library released its October events slate. The library is at 338 Main St., Huntington.

Event: Musicology Mondays: "Stevie Nicks: Wild at Heart"
Location: Main Auditorium
Date: Monday, Oct. 2
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Description: "Stevie Nicks: Wild at Heart" (2020, 61 minutes). Through her drive and passion for creating art, the Bohemian Rock Queen found an avenue to overcome her obstacles, going on to become the only woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, twice. Open to all.

Event: Drama Book Club

Description: Please join us for a discussion of dramatic works. We’ll read selected scenes aloud and discuss to add a deeper understanding of the work. "God of Carnage," by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton. A playground altercation between 11-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters. Description: Attention true crime lovers – our monthly True Crime Club is back discussing theories and suspects, with new videos and interviews each month! Richard Ramirez, aka “The Night Stalker,” was a serial killer who predominantly operated in California, specifically Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He used a variety of implements to kill, with all or most of his murders occurring during the various home invasions/robberies. He relished the nickname, "The Night Stalker." The Daniel Bennett Group is currently celebrating the release of their 9th studio album, "New York Nerve," and the group was recently voted 'Best New Jazz' in Hot House Magazine. Description: This program delves into the world of art crime, relating some of the fascinating stories of lost, stolen, and forged art. Author and forensic science teacher Linda Marie Frank will explain how art pieces are scientifically authenticated, including both scientific methods and the expertise of the art historian, and will go over the significance of an artwork's provenance. Also covered is the difference between fakes, forgeries, and restored art and examples and different cases of each. Registration required and open to all.

Event: The Salem Witch Trials: Reckoning & Reclaiming

Description: Even after 300 years, Salem’s witch trials remain a defining example of intolerance and injustice in American history. The extraordinary events of 1692-3 led to the deaths of 25 innocent people, the vast majority of whom were women. Learn from a docent with the New-York Historical Society about the tangible fragments from the past that illuminate the real lives of Salem’s residents: those accused of witchcraft, their accusers, and those who defended them against legal charges, risking their own lives and reputations in the process.
