Harborfields Band Teacher Wins NYSSMA Music Educator Innovation Award

The award recognizes new and creative approaches to music education.

GREENLAWN, NY — Dan Bilawsky, the music coordinator of the Harborfields Central School District, received the New York State School Music Association’s Music Educator Innovation Award at the All-State Conference in Rochester, the school district announced.

Bilawsky, the band director at Oldfield Middle School, was presented with the award by NYSSMA Immediate Past President David Brown and retired Harborfields School District Music Director and NYSSMA School Music News Editor Tom Gellert.

The award recognizes new and creative approaches to music education.
