The energy was over the top at Wednesday night’s Hoka One One Long Island Mile track meet hosted at St. Anthony’s High School.
High school kids lined the outside lanes of the track to cheer on elite men and women runners, some who just got off the plane from Rio, as they ran one mile to the best of their abilities. It was a sight you won't see at any other Long Island track meets. (scroll down for pictures)
The second-annual event brought similar results as last year’s: David Torrence and Amanda Eccelston defended their titles as Hoka One One Long Island champs with times of 3 minutes and 54.99 seconds and 4 minutes and 26.87 seconds, respectively.

Leading up to the elite races, there were open championship races, a kids fun run and a race walking heat.
