Here are the top four stories today in Huntington:
- A Northport High school teacher's lesson is piloted for publication in a science journal. Physics teachers Karyn Libretto and Gillian Winters developed a lesson that finds a connection between footwear and physics. Second graders at Pulaski Road School got to try out the new lesson and enjoyed the activity. (Patch)
- A Huntington home was searched in connection to catalytic converter thefts. The search was connected to a $7 million bust during which thousands of the car parts were seized by Nassau County Police on Wednesday. Police and federal agents searched the Huntington home of Mazhar Abdullah, who runs a Hicksville business named Max Auto Recycling. No charges have been filed against Abdullah. The raid came after a year-long investigation called "Operation Cat Track.” (Huntington Patch)
- The town of Huntington is in search of snow equipment and workers for the winter season. The town raised the hourly rate for residents who have a truck with a plow, from $25 to $30 more an hour. A driver will now make $122 an hour. “We want to make sure the men and women get taken care of because no one wants to work for free,” highway superintendent Andre Sorrentino says. (News 12 Brooklyn)
