Huntington Ballet Academy Students Prepare for ABT Exams

Exams for the American Ballet Theatre (R) Training Curriculumn will take place June 2 at Huntington Center for Performing Arts

A unique school provides a unique experience for its students - ballet exams.

A European tradition has now made its way to the USA. The American Ballet Theatre (R) National Training Curriculum was developed more then a decade ago by the official school of American Ballet Theatre in NYC( Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of Ballet). It established a school with a special curriculum dedicated to the safe and nurturing approach to teaching ballet to young children. The school established a Masters program with NYU and graduated certified teachers who now are resident at schools across the USA. This program was adopted by local school Huntington Ballet Academy located in the heart of Huntington Village at Huntington Center for Performing Arts.

ABT student Examinations are the perfect culmination of training each year because they review the student's skill level and artistic presentation. Each student will receive a personal evaluation and certificate of achievement from the adjudicator from ABT in NYC. In addition the presenting teacher is also evaluated. The exam requires the memorization of an entire class that is designed by the teacher pursuant to ABT guidelines and presented by the students without teacher guidance. This year's exam is on Sunday June 2 at Huntington Center.
