Huntington Business Donates School Supplies to Homeless Children

Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Arts was acknowledged for collecting a large number of school supplies.

Some of the neediest students in the community will now have the school supplies they need to start off the school year thanks to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless’ annual “Backpack Pirates” school supply collection drive.

Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts, located in Huntington, was commended for collecting a large number of school supplies for the drive.

Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern, who was involved in the collection, acknowledged Mathew Castillo, Head Instructor at Tiger Schulmann’s MMA, and his students for collecting notebooks, pencils, binders and other items.

“His dedication to our community and commitment to the well-being of our young people is greatly appreciated,” Stern said of Castillo.

“I thank the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless for running the ‘Backpack Pirates’ collection and for hosting an annual party for children in need and to the many members of our community who donated supplies,” Stern added.
