Today in Huntington:

  • New York Blood Drive - South Huntington Public Library. (2:30 p.m.)

From my notebook:

  • Huntington Union Free School District: Blue Devil boys’ swimmers are on a proverbial high after helping to topple powerful Half Hollow Hills for the first time in 16 years, 98-85. The Huntington/Walt Whitman/Haborfields squad is undefeated this season. Schools combine squads which is common in the league. (Facebook)
  • Huntington Union Free School District: Four Huntington wrestlers finished second in their respective weight class and the Blue Devils placed second in a field of 11 teams in the final standings at the Friar Bash at St. Anthony's. The Blue Devils are heading into the heart of the dual meet season. Huntington has upcoming matches with Copiague, Connetquot, Smithtown East, Half Hollow Hills East and Harborfields. The Blue Devils will travel to Herricks and Suffern for invitational tournaments (Facebook)
  • South Huntington Public Library: Kick off the new year with an act of kindness. Blood is in short supply, so please take time to donate. One pint can save three lives! Appointments encouraged, but walk-ins OK. You can register online at the library website. (Facebook)
  • Nextdoor Neighbor, West Shore: "Renovating den starting tomorrow and removing this bar. - Anyone interested in upper cabinets, granite or tin ceiling tiles, please let me know. Hate to just throw them away if someone could use them. In very good condition. " (Nextdoor)
