- Town of Huntington celebrates Holi, the Hindu 'Festival of Colors'. The Holi represents the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil. "We join Huntington's Indian-American community and all who observe this annual celebration of colors, with the hope, optimism and unity perfectly reflected during the springtime," Smyth stated. "We are a united community, from all walks of life, all cultural and religious backgrounds, and we celebrate both what unites us and those characteristics that make us unique. I am heartened to see such a gathering of officials, leaders and members of our community for this colorful, unifying celebration of spring." (Huntington Patch)
- Elwood's John Glenn HS senior Anson Kwan named National Merit Finalist. Kwan was given the honor based on his high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. "It's a big honor, and I achieved this as a result of the work of my teachers and my parents who helped support me through this process," Kwan said via news release. He is now eligible to receive one of the 7,500 National Merit Scholarships. (Patch)
- Multiple fire departments battle massive blaze at Syosset townhomes Wednesday night. The blaze had 20 agencies respond and happened around 10:30 p.m. at the Hidden Ridge Condominiums. - Lloyd Harbor resident George J. Tsunis honored by Town of Huntington. The Town Board recognized the real estate businessman and attorney on Tuesday night for his selection to become the US ambassador to Greece. “We wish him well as he begins the next chapter of his career.
