Huntington Gets Lottery Fever
Stores reporting brisk lottery sales as customers line up for chance at $640 million.

With the record jackpot now at $640 million, stores throughout Huntington are reporting brisk sales of Mega Millions lottery tickets as people are lining up for their one in 176 million chance to win.
At the Sunoco gas station on New York Avenue Friday afternoon, a clerk said he has never seen anything like it.

"Almost everybody that comes in has bought a ticket," said Jean Lubin, a station attendent.
At the grocery store in Halesite, workers say a steady stream of customers has lined up to take a chance at the more than a half-a-billion dollar prize. About 1,000 Mega tickets had been sold at the store Friday with numbers expected to rise before the 11 p.m. drawing, according to Mary Velero, customer service representative at the store.

Across the nation, sales for the Mega Millions drawing totaled more than $839 million, according to a CBS report. Officials projected an additional $618.5 million in sales ahead of Friday's drawing, however, for a projected total sales figure of more than $1.46 billion.
The $640 million jackpot, according to lottery officials, is the largest to date.
