The Huntington Union Free School District is expecting a massive blue and white turnout for Huntington High School’s Homecoming Day on Saturday.
“This homecoming is going to be incredible,” faculty advisor Anthony Troffa told HUFSD. “The kids worked all summer to gear up for the float competition. They are very excited about the Thursday night dance and of course, the Saturday football game.”
Here’s what Huntington has in store for their Homecoming Day celebration:
Huntington Homecoming Day Parade
The parade through Huntington Village kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and will feature:
- Four colorful class floats, provided by each of the high school classes, which will be put on display adjacent to the football field following the parade.
- Performance by the Blue Devil marching band.
- Cars holding members of the Royal Court.
- Trucks and tractors filled with hundreds of students.
- Marchers, including several faculty members.
Homecoming Football Game: Blue Devils vs. Half Hollow Hills West
The home conference game at 1:30 p.m. will feature the following halftime entertainment:
- Performance by the Blue Devil marching band.
- Performance by the Highsteppers, the high school’s competitive dance team.
- The crowning of the Homecoming Day king and queen.
- An announcement of the winning class float entry.
“The dance, pep rally and float night, as well as the parade and the football game are all great traditions, which are part of what high school is all about,” Principal Brenden Cusack told HUFSD.
Huntington High School held Spirit Week leading up to this year’s Homecoming celebration. Monday was “class color day,” Tuesday was “twin day,” Thursday was “pajama day” and Friday will be “blue and white day.”
