Huntington Hospital Recognized for Palliative Care Services
This is the second year in a row the hospital has received this recognition by The Joint Commission.

Huntington Hospital was once again recognized for its high-quality palliative care services by The Joint Commission.
This is the second time The Joint Commission, an independent organization that certifies and accredits healthcare organizations and programs, put the spotlight on the hospital’s specialized medical care program.
Palliative care focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms and stress of their illnesses. It’s provided by a specially trained multidisciplinary team in the hospital, with hopes of improving quality of life for patients and their families.

“I am very proud of the team for all of their hard work, and grateful for the support of the hospital and Northwell Health, which allowed us to achieve Joint Commission accreditation for the second time,” said Adrianna Garite, DO, chief of palliative medicine at Huntington Hospital. “It is a privilege to lead such an amazing team, and an honor to have the team’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to quality recognized in such a meaningful way.”
To earn this designation, the hospital’s palliative care program underwent a voluntary onsite evaluation to determine its compliance with The Joint Commission’s stringent standards. The program was once again recognized for the high quality patient care delivered and achieved certification for advanced palliative care in April 2016.
