Huntington Lawyer Listed Among Top Women Attorneys in the New York Metropolitan Area

The founder of the Schlitt Law Firm, Carol L. Schlitt has been named to the list in Super Lawyer magazine for six years years.

Carol L. Schlitt of the New York law firm Schlitt Law has been honored by Super Lawyers magazine as one of the New York Metro Top Women Attorneys for the sixth year in a row.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Super Lawyers,” said attorney Carol L. Schlitt. “It gives me great satisfaction to receive recognition for what we do as a team to help our clients. We say all the time that we love coming through for our clients and awards like this acknowledge our efforts. it is good to have a light shine on the work that we do for our clients.”

Carol L. Schlitt is not an overnight success, but a woman who has vigorously pursued her career in law for nearly 30 years. She took her first attorney position with the special litigation unit of the City of New York Law Department. In that role, Carol defended the city against tort and medical malpractice claims, going head-to-head with trial lawyers across the city. Her work earned her the award as the Municipal Attorney of the Year from the New York County Bar Association.

After five years, Carol joined Acito & Klein, a powerhouse litigation law firm in Manhattan where she handled both plaintiff and defense work. She left there to start the Schlitt Law Firm. “I wanted to build a firm based on the values of customer service and great legal work.”

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and St. John’s University School of Law, Ms. Schlitt has appeared on CBS-TV in New York, MSNBC and News 12 Long Island. Her legal work has been covered in the New York Times, the New York Daily News and Newsday among other publications. Hofstra University School of Law has recently named her one of the Top Women Attorneys on Long Island.

Carol’s devotion to the law and justice is not limited to her practice. She is active in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and frequently represents the association in discussions with state lawmakers in Albany. She is a member of multiple local bar associations and volunteers as a Moot Court Judge for student competitions

Carol is also active in community institutions, groups, and activities. She is a trustee of the Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor and supports the Tri-CYA, a community youth organization in Huntington that provides after-school services for school-age children and a summer program.
