Huntington Police Blotter: 2 People Found With Stolen Loaded Guns

ALSO: A woman whose license had previously been suspended or revoked 24 times repeatedly lied to police about her name, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from Jan. 3 through Jan. 9.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Samantha Gormez, 29, of Calverton, was driving on East 11th Street in Huntington Station at 9:20 a.m. Jan. 5 when an officer stopped her due to her 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee's broken tail lamp, police said. Gormez gave police the wrong name to avoid being arrested in connection with multiple warrants, police said. She repeatedly gave the wrong name, police said. Gormez's driver's license had been suspended or revoked 24 times on 11 dates, police said. She was arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and false personation on Jan. 5.
  • Franklin Gentry, 36, of Huntington Station, was on Little Plains Road at the border of Greenlawn and Huntington at 6 p.m. Jan. 3 when police found he had a stolen loaded Colt handgun, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of weapon: loaded firearm and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property: firearm on Jan. 3.
  • Kelly Maloney, 33, of Bellport, was on Little Plains Road at the border of Greenlawn and Huntington at 6 p.m. Jan. 3 when police found she had a stolen loaded Colt revolver, police said. During a traffic stop, police found Maloney's heroin, needles, and heroin-soaked cotton balls in a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, police said. She was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of weapon: loaded firearm, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of hypodermic instrument on Jan. 3.
