Huntington Police Blotter: Debit Card Numbers Stolen

In one of the thefts, the thief used the card number to make $4,600 worth of online purchases, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Jan. 23 through Jan. 29.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Jan. 28: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Maurice Lane in Huntington at 10 a.m. A stolen Social Security Number was used to file fraudulent tax paperwork, police said.
  • Jan. 24: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Terrace Drive in Huntington Station from Nov. 27 at 9 p.m. Someone stole a person's debit card number and used the number to make $4,600 in online purchases, police said.
  • Jan. 23: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Green Meadow Lane in Huntington at 5 p.m. Someone stole a person's debit card number and used it to steal money from their account, police said.
