Huntington Police Blotter: Man Possessed 4 Cars Stolen In 2019

He provided falsified paperwork to a recycling center stating that he owned the cars, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from May 31 through June 6.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Wilber Garay-Chavez, 21, of Huntington Station, was found to have a detachable magazine that holds more than 10 rounds of ammunition, a semi-automatic handgun, more than eight ounces of marijuana and Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, police said. Everything was recovered during the execution of a search warrant at 5:48 a.m. June 6 at a Tower Street, Huntington Station, home, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of weapon: ammo clip, criminal possession of firearm, criminal possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substance on June 6.
  • Patrick Herrera, 43, of Elmont, was found with a 2015 Hyundai Sonata reported stolen May 31, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property: value of property over $3,000 on June 6.
  • Matthew Power, 37, of Huntington Station and/or Medford, entered the fenced-in property of Washington Primary School in Huntington Station at 7 a.m. June 3 after the school district suspended his employment and told Power to not go on the property, police said. At 9:30 a.m. June 4, he entered the fenced-in property of Jack Abrams STEM Magnet Intermediate School, police said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal trespass: school on June 4.
  • Taiwan Bush, 41, of Huntington, possessed four stolen cars on four separate dates ranging from May 7, 2019 through Sept. 14, 2019, that were all reported missing by their owners, police said. He then provided fraudulent paperwork to a Lindenhurst recycling center, including falsified DMV documents stating he owned the cars, police said. The incidents range from May 7, 2019 through Sept. 14, 2019, police said. He was arrested and charged with four counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property: vehicle except motorcycle and four counts of falsifying business record on June 4.
