Huntington Police Blotter: Man Robbed Of Cellphone At Knifepoint

ALSO: A man was arrested in connection with trying to get $100,000 in NYS unemployment benefits using ID theft victims' info, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from July 17 through July 23.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Brandon Sestoso, 40, of Huntington Station, was found to be in possession of two stolen credit cards, a stolen ID card, drugs, and various pieces of mail he swiped from a mailbox, police said. Sestoso used the stolen credit cards to withdraw money from the person's bank account, police said. Sestoso also tried to evade an officer who was arresting him, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree identity theft: cause loss, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property: possess credit card, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree obstruct governmental administration and petty larceny on July 22.
  • Trevor Bryant, 28, of Huntington Station, tried to obtain more than $100,000 in New York state unemployment benefits using the personal information of three identity theft victims while acting with others between March 9, 2020, and Sept. 1, 2021, police said. He was arrested and charged with six counts of first-degree identity theft: obtain goods, one count of third-degree identity theft: obtain goods, one count of second-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $50,000, and two counts of third-degree grand larceny on July 20.
  • Carlos Garie-Correa, 21, of Huntington Station, displayed a knife and took someone else's cell phone while another person punched the victim in the face, police said. He was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery: use dangerous instrument on July 17.
