Huntington Police Blotter: Man Stole Credit Cards; Forged Checks

The man possessed two forged personal checks, credit cards, and crack cocaine, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from Aug. 23 through Aug. 29.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Nicholas Breitenbucher, 26, of Amityville, was driving a Dodge Durango on Melville Park Road in Melville at 3 p.m. July 26 when he struck a pedestrian, police said. Breitenbucher drove off without reporting the incident, while the pedestrian needed to go to the hospital for minor injuries, police said. Breitenbucher was arrested and charged with first-degree leave accident: failure to show license/ID on Aug. 29.
  • Derrick Loyde, 34, of Huntington, was in possession of two forged personal checks made out to him from different people; fraudulent checks from Bank of America and TD Bank; Best Buy and Walmart credit cards previously reported stolen by their owner; and crack cocaine inside a clear plastic bag and a glass pipe containing a partially-burned off rock of crack cocaine, police said. He was arrested in Huntington Station and charged with two counts of second-degree possession of forged instrument, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property: possess credit card, two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substance on Aug. 29.
