Huntington Police Blotter: Man Uses False ID To Get 2020 BMW

The man was caught using a fraudulent Indiana driver's license bearing a different name, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from June 7 through June 13.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Nicholas Popow, 21, of Greenlawn, set fire to a plastic garbage can at 2:35 a.m. June 11 at 253 Broadway, Greenlawn, police said. He was arrested and charged with fifth-degree arson: intent to damage property on June 11.
  • Abdelilah Achkir, 53, of College Point, stole a Louis Vuitton handbag from Saks Fifth Avenue in South Huntington on Feb. 17, police said. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property over $1,000 on June 11.
  • Rafael Ramirez, 35, of Corona, used a false ID to obtain a 2020 BMW on June 6, police said. He was caught using a fraudulent Indiana driver's license bearing a different name on June 11, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree grand larceny: property value over $50,000 and second-degree possession of forged instrument on June 11.
