Huntington Residents Lose Power

More than 9,000 customers in the Town of Huntington were without power Monday as Hurricane Sandy moved onto Long Island.

The largest number, more than 2,500, are in Huntington Station, with another almost 1,300 in Huntington. The rest are scattered from Commack to Asharoken to Cold Spring Harbor.

In describing the estimated time for repair, LIPA's outage map said, "assessing condition."

The outages included the traffic signals at the busy New York Avenue intersection in front of the Long Island Rail Road station.
