Huntington Seeks Grant Funding For Asharoken Seawall Project
Other than the Asharoken Seawall Resiliency Upgrade Project, here are other highlights from the Huntington town board meeting.

HUNTINGTON, NY — The Town of Huntington is seeking FEMA grant funding for the Asharoken Seawall Resiliency Upgrade Project, it announced.
The Huntington Town Board, at its meeting on Tuesday, authorized Supervisor Edmund Smyth to apply for FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Grant Funding, as a co-applicant with the Village of Asharoken, and receive funding for the Asharoken Seawall Resiliency Upgrade Project.

- Approved a contract with Roland’s Electric Inc. to install an emergency standby generator at Huntington Town Hall.
- Strengthened controls and security practices for cash and credit card payments to the town, amending the Town of Huntington’s Policy and Procedure Manual to limit cash payments to the Offices of the Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes and further limiting the handling of cash and credit card payments to specific employees appointed by Department Directors.
- Appointed Smyth and Councilman Eugene Cook as members of the Audit Committee.
- Appointed Huntington Town Clerk Andrew Raia as a principal and Town Attorney Deborah Misir as an alternate to cast a vote on behalf of the Town of Huntington at the 2022 annual meeting of the Association of Towns.
- Appointed Jeffrey M. Bartholomew as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) to fill an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2026. Bartholomew, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, law enforcement professional and a former small business owner, has served as an alternate member of the ZBA since his appointment in December 2020, previously serving on the Board of Ethics since his appointment in 2019.
The Huntington Town Board scheduled public hearings for the 7 p.m. Feb. 1 town board meeting to consider:
- Executing an agreement with Northport Village to furnish Fire Protection Services for the Town of Huntington Fire Protection District No. 1.
- Adding language to clarify the existing code regarding noise in the Town of Huntington.
- Amending the town's traffic code regarding Park Avenue parking restrictions and improving sight distance for traffic safety purposes.
- Amending the town's traffic code regarding parking restrictions that would prevent drivers from parking on the sidewalk of Wolf Hill Road in Huntington Station.
- Authorizing Supervisor Edmund Smyth to execute license agreements with various sports-related organizations for the use of town facilities.
