Huntington Station Man Convicted of Fatally Stabbing Maggie Rosales

BREAKING: It took the jury less than two hours Friday to convict Adam Saalfield of second-degree murder, the DA says.

A Huntington Station man was convicted Friday of stabbing 18-year-old Maggie Rosales to death in 2014, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

It took the jury less than two hours to convict Adam Saalfield, 22, of second-degree murder.

On Oct. 12, 2014, police said a pedestrian found the body of Rosales, 18, of Huntington Station, lying on Lynch Street near Depot Road in Huntington Station with apparent stab wounds at 11:35 p.m.

Rosales, who had been attacked from behind, was wearing ear buds while listening to music, and had not heard her attacker approaching, officials said.

Saalfield was arrested on Oct. 29, 2014 and was charged with second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.

Authorities say they had DNA evidence from the murder scene, and part of the incident was caught on surveillance video.

Saalfield's murder trial began Monday, Aug. 1. He faces a prison sentence of 25 years to life and will be sentenced on Friday, Sept. 23.

Rosales' death, one of four local murders in that year, prompted residents to march on town hall demanding a stop to crime in the area.
