Huntington Station Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Walt Whitman Road

The accident occurred Friday night in Huntington Station.

A Huntington Station man riding a motorcycle was killed when he crashed into a minivan on Walt Whitman Road Friday night, police said.

Brett Rainey, 27, was riding a 2000 Yamaha northbound when he struck a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan traveling southbound at 5:30 p.m., police said.

According to authorities, the motorcycle crashed into the front passenger side of the minivan when the vehicle attempted to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot.

Rainey was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital.

The minivan driver, Lucas McAfee, 18, of Fort Salonga, stayed at the scene of the crash. McAfee and three male passengers in the minivan were not injured in the accident.

The minivan and motorcycle were impounded for safety checks.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the incident.
