Huntington High School students won big in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s REEL science communication contest, according to school officials.
Heather Forster, Suzie Petryk and Sofia Bialkowski – all students in the school’s Advanced Placement Chemistry course – placed first in the competition’s “Forest Fire Effects on Air Quality” category, according to the school's website.
The victory earned them the chance to work with NASA producers and communications experts on a NASA Earth Science story video in July, the school reported. Using webinars, Skype and other online tools, the students will collaborate with NASA. Ultimately, the content will be posted on a NASA website and possibly highlighted on www.nasa.gov.
