Huntington Town Board Takes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Town devotes challenge to Chris Pendergast and Ride for Life Foundation, which the former Northport teacher created to raise ALS awareness.

The Huntington Town Board on Friday Sept. 5 accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge issued by the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce.
For the venue, officials chose Mr. P’s Playground in Veterans Park, which is described as “the boundless playground named after former Northport teacher Chris Pendergast, who has been battling ALS for more than a decade,“ according to a news release.
As Mr. Pendergast looked on, Town Supervisor Frank P. Petrone noted that the board was devoting the challenge to him and to the Ride for Life Foundation Mr. Pendergast created to increase awareness about ALS and to raise funds to help ALS patients and undertake research for a cure.
