Huntington UFSD Musicians to Perform at All-County Festival

Huntington has been producing top musical talents for more than 100 years.

Twenty remarkably talented Huntington High School musicians has been selected to perform at the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education’s All-County Music Festival this fall.

Huntington’s representation is more than double last year’s nine students. “These talented students were chosen based upon their New York State School Music Association solo evaluation scores and teacher recommendations,” said Eric Reynolds, Huntington’s district director of fine and performing arts. “In order to be eligible, students must perform an instrumental or vocal solo of the highest level of musicality at the annual NYSSMA solo festival and be a junior or senior enrolled in a school music ensemble.”

The Huntington students who have been selected to perform include:

About 500 student musicians from across Suffolk County annually come together to rehearse for over 14 hours over three days culminating in a concert performance. Huntington’s nine-member student-musician contingent is currently studying under the direction of teachers James DiMeglio, Victoria Garbarino and Jason Giachetti.

“Music programs in Huntington are among many sources of pride among students, staff and community members” Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “Our students not only build their artistic talent and skill through the years, but also develop an unbridled passion for performing. A tribute to them and their teachers alike! We congratulate the outstanding group that will perform in this year’s All-County ensembles and can’t wait to hear them on stage throughout the year.”

This year’s festival will be held on Friday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Huntington High School

“The achievement of our students represents mastery in their musical studies and a true pursuit of excellence,” Mr. Reynolds said. “The fine and performing arts department is proud to have these students represent our school and community.”
