Details: The corps of volunteer gardeners, who help beautify the museum’s home, the landmark Vanderbilt estate, will sell perennials, annuals, shrubs and trees in the museum parking lot.
Cost: Admission to this pre-Mother’s Day gift-plant sale is free. Available stock will include potted flowers for an average of $6 to $7; rhododendrons for $12; Knockout roses (priced up to $30 elsewhere) for $15; flats of 48 impatiens (priced $18 elsewhere) for $13; and hanging baskets (priced up to $50 elsewhere) for $22.
First Friday with the Five Towns College Guitarists – Friday May 6, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Artist/Author Evening – Friday May 6, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Details: Hungtington artist Roberta Erlagen and author Patricia Ruth Kresner will host an Artist/Author evening at Book Revue. This fun Book-and-a-Bag event will feature "Bertie's" Long Island inspired artwork on totes and Patricia signing her debut novel Holly Heights, a present day tale that takes place in a fictional community on Long Island. To help celebrate Mother’s Day, “Bertie” will raffle off an original watercolor created that evening. Patricia Ruth will raffle a personalized copy of her book Holly Heights. Raffle tickets will be distributed free-of-charge to everyone in attendance starting at 7:00 p.m.

National Astronomy Day, Saturday, May 7, 11:00 a.m. – Midnight
Location: , 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport
Details: Celebrate National Astronomy Day. The day will include model-rocket demonstrations with members of the Long Island Advanced Rocketry Society, safe viewing of the sun through solar telescopes with the Astronomical Society of Long Island, and planetarium astronomy shows and live sky talks. The program also includes children’s games and craft projects to take home, and storytelling related to astronomy and space. In addition to telescope demonstrations, participants may observe the night sky through numerous telescopes, including a huge, 32-inch Dobsonian model.
Cost: Visitors will be charged general museum-grounds admission: $7 adults, $6 students and seniors (62 and older), $3 children 12 and under. For daytime planetarium/laser shows, visitors pay the general admission fee, plus planetarium admission of $5 for adults, $4 for students and seniors, and $3 for children 12 and under.

Details: The performance is part of the First Saturday series of the Folk Music Society of Huntington. Live Music, Sunday May 8, 3:00 p.m.

Details: Composer and conductor Carman Moore brings his Skymusic Ensemble from Lincoln Center. Joining them will be local student guest artists Mikah Feldman-Stein of Huntington High School on alto sax and Jonathan Bodian of West Hollow Middle School in Half Hollow Hills district on guitar. The Skymusic Ensemble is an electro-acoustic chamber group that features an original blend of styles from classical to jazz and ethnic music.
Cost: $20 for public; $5 for kids 18 and under; and $15 for CAC members.
